Çetin Çelik is a researcher working in the field of sociology of migration and education. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Bremen in 2012, with a thesis exploring the links between identity formation and educational achievement of the second-generation migrant youth and broader social policies and institutional regulations in the context of Bremen, Germany. Çelik’s current works at Koç University, Istanbul and Mercator- Istanbul Policy Centre at Sabancı University deal with different forms of educational inequalities, institutional structures within context of migration. He collected various reproach grants such as Marie Curie Career Integration Grant, Koç University Seed Grant, TUBITAK- CAREER Grant, as well as TUBITAK-BIDEB Grant. He is also part of the Social Policy Centre group at Koç University (SPM-KU), which runs an FP7th project on youth unemployment. From findings of his research, Çelik has published and under review articles in journals such as Ethnic and Racial Studies, Patterns of Prejudice and British Journal of Sociology of Education. Çelik received his M.A from at Middle East Technical University and his B.A from Ege University in Departments of Sociology. Çelik has been teaching courses on sociology of migration, education and research methods at the University of Bremen and at Koç University.
